IITA, with Headquarters at Ibadan, is an International Agricultural Research Centre in the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), which is an association of about 50 countries, international and regional organizations, and private foundations. IITA seeks to increase agricultural production in a sustainable way in order to improve the nutritional status and well-being of people in tropical Sub-Saharan Africa.
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the following positions at the Institute’s Kano Station.
Position
IITA Nigeria Job: Vacancy for Research Technicians (2 positions) 2-year renewable contract
DUTIES
Successful candidate will among other things:
  • Clean and sort planting materials for laboratory, screen-house and field trials;
  • Collect data in laboratory, screen-house and field trials;
  • Participate in arranging training for farmers;
  • Assist in carrying out maintenance activities in the laboratory and screen-houses;
  • Supervise workers’ activities in the screen-house and field trials and
  • Perform any other assigned jobs by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
National Diploma in General Agriculture. At least three (3) years relevant working experience in research institutes or universities.
Successful candidate must be honest and able to work under pressure, computer literacy and in possession of valid drivers’ licence.
